What is a non-vibrating dildo?

Among the many existing sex toys, the dildo is a particularly widespread and recognized model.

It allows to imitate the sensation of an erect penis during vaginal, anal or oral sex. The many variations available on the market are enough to satisfy many fantasies, such as double penetration or the fact that a woman can discover the sensations offered by a penis substitute.
Thus, the dildo is suitable for both heterosexual and homosexual couples, and is also suitable for solo masturbation.

Moreover, the dildo is subject to many fetishes because of its phallic shape capable of transforming, to a certain extent, the body of the person wearing it.
It is thus not uncommon to find it in various uses, and sometimes quite distant from sexual penetration in the strict sense. For example, a dildo can be used as a gag during your BDSM games sessions, or even for artificial fellatio...

Origins of the non-vibrating dildo

Name

Several possible origins to the name of the dildo have been discovered, although the most probable is the expression "gaude mihi" coming from medieval Latin and which can be translated by "delight me".
This name would have been transformed through the ages to become "dildo", a term itself truncated into "dildo" in the 1930s.

First traces of the non-vibrating dildo

Archaeological research in 2005 led to the discovery of a stone object in the Hohle Fels cave in Germany. It was possibly intended for sexual use, in addition to its function as a tool and phallic representation.
This object is dated to approximately 27,000 to 28,000 BC, making it the oldest sextoy discovered to date.

In a later way, other traces of phallus isolated or associated with objects or gods have been identified in ancient Egypt. This is the case, for example, of the current representations of the god Osiris, endowed with a disproportionate giant sex.

In the same way, the Romans are not in remainder since one finds through their god of the fertility Priape of the recurring representations of its gigantic penis, constantly in erection. Some works of Latin literature also attest to the use of dildos as early as the 2nd century BC.

The non-vibrating dildo in the Middle Ages

In the Middle Ages, sex toys were seen with a bad eye by the Church, which conceived marriage and sexuality only to generate new Christians. Any notion of pleasure was then banned, and sexual relations were strictly limited to reproduction.

However, if the use of the dildo is severely repressed among men who would waste their precious semen in this way, medieval Christian thought considers that this tool can educate women to control their sexual impulses, which they were apparently incapable of doing: proof of this would be their inability to stop their menstruation. The Dominican friar Albert the Great explains the therapeutic virtues of female masturbation, allowing to avoid adulteries and therefore illegitimate children.

If few sources mention the use of dildos in the Middle Ages, some registers of clerical administration mention women using vegetables or wooden objects for their pleasure. However, it is known that the wealthier populations had recourse to luxury sex toys from the 15th century, which were a sign of a certain refinement.

These dildos were bought from Italian glassmakers, goldsmiths or cabinetmakers depending on the material desired.
In London, they could be found in the store of Madame Phillips in Leicester Square, in the heart of the city.
In Paris, it was at the "Petite Comtesse" Madame Marguerite Gourdan that the highest society came to buy sex toys. But these accessories were not reserved only for the nobility, since many abbesses and nuns were also equipped with "consolers", another name given to the dildo in the eighteenth century.

The dildo in the modern era

With the Industrial Revolution, the 19th century saw the appearance of the first sex toys as we know them today thanks to the marketing of rubber, allowing the design of models that were both realistic and inexpensive.
It was at this time that manufacturers began to diversify their offer, proposing for example double dildos and then electric versions. Thus was born the vibrator, invented by the English doctor Joseph Mortimer Granville.

From antiquity to this time, the medical profession (essentially male) insisted on the need to treat hysteria, a neurosis systematically attributed to women. By prescribing them vulvar massages, one triggered orgasms on them without admitting that it could be anything other than a "hysterical paroxysm".

Today, the use of the dildo has freed itself from the prejudices it served for centuries and is now associated with sexual liberation.

How to maintain a dildo ?

Take care to clean your dildo before and after each use to keep it in the best possible condition.
Use a suitable sextoy cleaner and keep it in a clean, dry place, away from dust and germs.

Which dildo should I choose?

Non-vibrating dildo

The non-vibrating dildo allows you to concentrate on the back and forth movements and the angle of penetration. It is therefore a good choice for a first sextoy if you are a beginner, because you will discover the sensations offered by the non-vibrating dildo without being intimidated by possible additional options.

Remember to relax before your first try. Do not hesitate to apply abundant lubricant on your accessory, but also on your genitals.

Vibrating dildo

On the contrary, the vibrating dildo has different vibration options. These are most often located at the tip of the device to massage the G-spot, but sometimes also at its base as a clitoral stimulator.
Most models offer a variety of rhythms and intensities to suit all users and their preferences.

Suction cup dildo

The suction cup dildo has the advantage of leaving the hands free during penetration, which leaves you free to caress your breasts, clitoris or anus.

The suction cup simply attaches to a smooth surface, allowing you to experiment with positions that are difficult to practice alone, such as doggy style or andromache. If you want to test the latter, attach the suction cup to a tiled floor. Once the dildo has been penetrated, make up and down movements.
The suction cup dildo is therefore a good accessory to use your imagination and vary the positions, but also the places!

Although some models offer vibrations, the non-vibrating suction cup dildo is more than enough to exploit the full potential of this millennium sextoy. For example, you can enjoy double penetration, both anal and vaginal, on yourself or your partner, but also simultaneous penetration.
Moreover, the potential will be multiplied by transforming your accessory into a belt dildo. All you have to do is attach it to a harness.

Dildo belt

A real male prosthesis, the strap-on dildo allows women to penetrate their partner with a dildo attached to a harness.
However, there are strap-on models without a harness, which seems more natural both visually and sensitively.

Metal dildo

Metal dildos are indicated if you are already familiar with your body and the most common sex toys. A metal dildo offers new and unparalleled sensations because of its weight and its hard and transparent material that allows you to see through it.
It is also a very aesthetic object, which you can enjoy admiring as such!

Double dildo

The double dildo allows partners but also singles to experience double anal and vaginal penetration.
It is also possible to indulge in a simultaneous penetration on both lovers at the same time, in order to discover sex in a new light and to strengthen your complicity.

Inflatable dildo

The inflatable dildo is able to adopt the size of your choice. It is therefore an ideal model to start with a small diameter, even if it means increasing it slowly afterwards as you use it.

Special G-spot dildo

The special G-spot dildo is, by its shape, designed to stimulate the inside of the vagina in the G-spot area. It is recommended for solitary use, or for use with the lover's pleasure.

Anal plug

If you are a long-time fan of the various existing sex toys, you might be tempted to play the game of anal pleasure and look into one or more anal plugs.
